From 1993 to now, Merlini Giuliano has been carrying on an activity as a luthier, doing construction and restoration of bowed and plucked instruments. He worked from 1993 to 1995 with a training contract for the work of the Arte Liutaria of Carlo Vettori, after 5 years of studies in Parma by Maestro Renato Scrollavezza and then since 1996 as a craftsman on his own. Since 2015 he has opened a School Shop recognized by the Tuscany Region which is still the first and only workshop of the luthier school of Tuscany. His activity as a Luthier and Master of the school consists in the construction and restoration of violins, violas, cellos, double basses, classical and acoustic guitars, mandolins, mandolas. The work is 100% manual without the use of machinery, cutters and the materials are the classic ones of Italian violin making. He also believes that it is important with the school to pass on a very ancient trade of the tradition and complete his career which is already full of satisfactions and consents even from the institutions.
