Dear friends,
like every year, the moment of the “balance sheet” also arrives for us.
Do you know how much the Life Beyond Tourism – Travel to Dialogue Movement and the Romualdo Del Bianco Foundation care and aim, since their inception, to support and share policies, practices for the enhancement of “heritage” in the broadest sense that this word can be used (artistic, cultural, etc…) through “travel”, “discovery”, “dialogue”.
It is with this “destination” very clear that, during the pandemic, we began to imagine “Luoghi Parlanti®“: a key (in fact an online portal) capable of allowing you to enter a place where every corner tells a story, where beauty is not only in the famous places but also in the hidden details, in places of culture, in the traditions and in the daily life of the local communities.
Since then we we have done a long way: luoghiparlanti.it has meanwhile become real; the first interactive plates were installed (and not only in Italy) creating the first “itineraries” that lead to the discovery of “minor” heritages, but certainly not for us, (such as the tabernacles in the historic center of Florence and the places that have marked the life of Father Balducci) and the entrepreneurial and social industriousness of the places
In this whirlwind of “doing”, we have become increasingly aware of the farsightedness of our project, of the need to give shape and response to all the needs and potentialities, expressed and not, that you have shared with us on various occasions, not least last November during the International Festival “The World In Florence”; at the same time we have become aware of the limitations and errors of the journey, which have sometimes distracted us or taken us far from our destination. But this is precisely the beauty of “travelling”: getting lost and then finding yourself again.
It is precisely to accompany us in “finding each other” that we want to invite you to contribute, even in person, to the new “path” of Talking Places”, which we are re-undertaking.
Over the next few months, you will see our approach, the Talking Places portal and much more (including this newsletter) gradually change with the aim of offering anyone who wants to travel, explore, navigate digitally or otherwise, a range of tools and columns useful for the usability of the “heritage”, for planning one’s “journey” in a simple and efficient way with new cultural and thematic itineraries based on territorial identity, hopefully with the collaboration of our dear friend and old acquaintance, the Genius Loci”
We really want “Luoghi Parlanti®” to be able to transmit an endless experience (a neverending experience) of discovery, knowledge and life of places and their heritage. We want to give them a firsthand voice. Giving a voice to those who keep this heritage; to whom and to what makes it changeable and elusive, material and immaterial, and/or simply different during the day with its noises and silences, lights and shadows, voices and stories.
