In spite of cultural diversity the friendship never look at the nation!

This picture has its own story. We have been walking down on the road. Left of us there was a lovely view of Florence. No one else was on the road. The sun has been going down and we have noticed that our shadows have appeared on the asphalt and they were very sharp and long. We stopped to take a photo. It has taken about 3-4 minutes to achieve this effect of the picture as you can see. When we were finished, I’ve turned my head back. There were a crowd of people looking at us. We have understood: they have been waiting for us! We were too much impressed by the politeness of people and we have told them in chorus “Grazie molto!” that means “Thank you very much!” in Italian.

These sari-sari store are also called “tindahan” that are usually seen inside some subdivision communities selling all kinds of daily consumables like oil, salt, soy sauce, sugar, coffee, shampoo and soap, canned goods, candies, ice, cola, and a lot more in “tingi”, cheap sachets, or in small amounts/packs only. Some even sell mayonnaise, butter or jams by spoons. The neighbors find it convenient to buy in these sari sari stores if they need items right away, just visit the nearest store in the corner of the block, use a coin to knock in the small wooden counter and loudly call “Pabili po…”.

Something to ponder upon, are the youth today relay on much visuals than reading?

While I was enjoying a cup of my favorite caramel macchiato and browsing some magazine, I came across this one page statement that grabbed my attention and i began to reflect on its message… do I also belong to the generation that most people say don’t read anymore? Well, as an instructor who teach design and architecture “reading” isn’t just about reading literature or words, its may also mean reading beyond words. Like the famous adage: “a picture is worth a thousand words” and “the body speaks louder”, visuals and actions are but the things we can also “read”. But I also comment on the present Pinoy youth losing the culture of reading quality books because of the convenience offered by the internet and technologies, that we must reintroduce this kind of art. Anyways, I also wonder if we could also learn how to read minds and abstract thoughts …

An interesting sign we found while walking in the colorful Mercato di San Lorenzo.
Shop with a good heart and you will be rewarded with good finds with good prices! While my fellow LBT Ambassadors were walking through the Mercato di San Lorenzo (a very nice market place of leather belts, bags, jackets, other leather goods, and a lot more) one night, we saw a very interesting sign in flashing yellow that pops out amidst the colorful goods that line up the scene. I came to realize that this sign may be a promotional gimmick to attract more buyers but I found it true in a sense that nice people attract good luck simply because they see things in a kinder perspective – or with kinder intentions.
