As well as fostering positive interaction with a destination, the Life Beyond Tourism project is designed also to encourage visitors to get to know other visitors from countries different from their own, and to partake in the feelings and experiences of other guests who have stayed there before them.
In the “Melting pot”, or meeting room, anyone who wants to do so can display their country of origin thanks to a card with their national flag that is handed to them at reception on arrival.
This way visitors will be able to show that they are amenable to getting to know other travellers also interested in taking advantage of the purpose-designed areas in the hotel, to increase their first-hand acquaintance with people from different cultural and social environments.
This turns the hotel into a place where it is possible to “declare oneself open to others”, thanks also to the special holiday atmosphere that prevails on any trip, a time when people are more open and more amenable to dialogue.
In encouraging such encounters, the hotel’s director should feel honored that he has been able to contribute to fostering mutual cross-cultural acquaintance, which is so absolutely crucial if we are to achieve serene coexistence in the world.
