
At the Museo Benozzo Gozzoli in Castelfiorentino – located in the heart of Val d’Elsa –  a new edition of the  of  âLa CittĂ degli Uffiziâ has opened. “La CittĂ degli Uffizi” is a series of  itinerant exhibitions travelling in different towns of the Province of Florence. The  project has been conceived by Antonio Natali, Director of  The Uffizi Gallery,  in order to promote the less known museums and the less known art-works that are usually hold into the Uffizi’s deposits. For the occasion, art-works are loaned to museums.
Protagonists of the Castelfiorentino edition are Benozzo Gozzoli, Cosimo Rosselli and many other painters working in Castelfiorentino and Valdelsa during the second half of the fifteenth century.
As Serena Nocentini and Anna Padoa Rizzo explain:  “Together with the magnificent Gozzoliâs shrines of the Visitation (1491) and Madonna della Tosse (1484), you can admire works from prestigious museum collections such as a Beato Angelicoâs table from the Pinacoteca Vaticana, the paintings of Assisi, Vicchio, CittĂ di Castello and Benozzo Gozzoli majestic table from San Gimingnano °. In these well-known art treasures will be accompanied some of the works of the Museum of Sacred Art in Santa Verdiana in Castelfiorentino and interesting pictorial evidence belonging to the local artistic heritage restored for the exhibition.”
