Intercultural dialogue today is of the essence: born in Florence, Life Beyond Tourism is a project designed to promote acquaintance with cultural diversity and traditional knowledge, to impart real added value to travel destinations, and to foster respect among peoples while allowing for their ongoing cultural, economic growth. It is tourism viewed no longer as ‘threat’ to tangible or intangible cultural heritage but as a means of safeguarding heritage on the basis of intercultural dialogue, beyond a mere consumer-driven service approach.
