Embracing Africa: Romualdo Del Bianco Foundation signs a Memorandum of Collaboration with UCLG Africa
A Memorandum of Collaboration was signed in Florence between the Fondazione Romualdo Del Bianco® – Life Beyond Tourism® and the United Cities and Local Governments – Africa. The UCLG Africa, headquartered in Rabat, Marocco, is an international pan-African organization uniting over 2000 cities and local governments and over 40 regional associations. The UCLG Africa mainly works on local territorial development on the grass-root levels, promoting peace and sustainability, fighting climate change and advocating for women’s rights.
The UCLG Africa delegation to the Foundation was guided by its Secretary General Mr. Jean Pierre Elong Mbassi, who was accompanied by some of his operational collaborators. The first meeting between the Secretary General Mr. Elong Mbassi and the representatives of the Foundation took place in Baku, at the IV Forum of Intercultural Dialogue (4-6 May 2017), where Mr. Jean Pierre Elong Mbassi assisted at the presentation of best practices of the Model Life Beyond Tourism, immediately appreciating their value and potential and proposing to strengthen the collaboration between the two institutions.
The ceremony of Memorandum subscription was preceded by two intense study days curated by the International Institute Life Beyond Tourism. At the ceremony were present also the President of the Regional Council of Tuscany Eugenio Giani and the Councilor for International Relations and Cooperation of the City of Florence Anna Paola Concia. With the subscription, the ethos, operational tools and best practices Life Beyond Tourism® were transmitted to the UCLG Africa that embraced the new model of travelling Life Beyond Tourism® aimed at contributing to the sustainability of local territorial development, preservation and support to cultural heritage, intercultural dialogue and, as a consequence, peace.
The ceremony of subscription culminated at the the Hotel Pitti Palace al Ponte Vecchio, a seat of practical application of the Life Beyond Tourism Model, which also among other activities provides economical support to the cultural heritage of Florence emotionally involving the traveller itself (booking portal Vivafirenze.it).
The signature of Memorandum represented thus a formal step for strengthening the already operational collaboration between the UCLG Africa and Romualdo Del Bianco Foundation towards achieving common goals and contributing to the sustainability, dialogue and preservation of our biggest heritage Planet Earth.
